Should You Ditch Your Bras and Panties?

The best part of a woman’s day is getting home after a long day’s work, and ditching her bra, even pantie. We definitely all want to stop worrying about any need for restrictive undies. The freedom! I am one person who enjoys the liberation. Besides making me comfortable, leaving my bras and panties in my drawers has some surprising benefits. Let’s break these down, and explore what happens when you go without lingerie, even for a day.

Does not wearing a bra make you saggy? Saggy boobs is one of the biggest fears most women have about their bodies. Our breasts naturally sag with age, so, aside from getting a boob job, there isn’t much we can do to change it.

Ptosis is the official medical terminology for breast sagginess. No matter the name, women want to know why that happens. Besides age, other reasons may for breast sag include:

  • Estrogen deficiency
  • Collagen deficiency
  • Menopause
  • Larger breast size
  • Rapid weight loss
  • Multiple pregnancies

Experts say that going for an extended period of time without wearing a bra do not contribute to breast sagginess. Just like wearing a bra all day isn’t going to make one’s breasts perkier, going bra-less isn’t going to make them sag prematurely.

There is no link, however, between bras and the risk of developing breast cancer. On the other side, there are actual health benefits to going bra-less. Some of them include:

Increased circulation – Wearing a bra is constricting, especially one with an underwire. This can lower blood flow to the muscles in your chest, and your back.Your bra might be to blame if you are consistently experiencing an aching chest or back. Women who have larger breasts get the most benefit when they skip wearing a bra.

Improves muscle tone – there’s a misconception that wearing a bra can make your breasts more shapely. This is false. Wearing a bra weakens the muscles that support your breasts. However, going without one encourages the muscles, tendons, and ligaments to provide natural support.

Improves breast skin health – regularly wearing a bra, especially in warmer weather traps moisture against your skin. Sweaty bras build up bacteria, causing breast infections, or other skin conditions.

Alternatives to going bra-less

Get rid of the underwire – wearing an underwire bra for long hours can hurt the ribs, especially if its too tight. Furthermore, low-quality underwire bras might end up injuring you if the underwire pokes through the fabric.

Consider a sports bra – physically active women wear sports bras when working out. These bras are designed with “activity in mind”. Not only do they provide enough support while running, and other high-impact movement activities. The only underside to wearing a sports bra might increase the risk of developing skin rashes, and other irritations because sports bras are more comprehensive than regular bras.

What about panties? The health benefits of not wearing underwear

Fewer yeast, and urinary track infections. Panties trap moisture against the vagina, creating an ideal breeding environment for vaginal yeast infection. Additionally, friction from underwear that’s lacey increases the chances of the delicate vaginal tissue becoming dry, and irritated.

If you cannot tolerate the thought of going without undies all day, you can skip them overnight, which can be a great way to ease into practice.

Drawbacks to an undies free lifestyle

If someone likes to wear tight clothes, it is highly likely to chafe, and irritate sensitive vaginal tissue.

Make sure to change, and wash your clothes regularly. Your genitals host all sorts of bacteria which can cause health issues if they are let to build up in your jeans and other clothing.

Do not try on store clothing without wearing underwear. You can pick up ickiness left by other customers, or transfer your vaginal bacteria to the clothing.

Latly, tossing out your bras, and underwear is a very personal choice. There isn’t a right or wrong in trying it out, but go with your gut, and choose what works best for your lifestyle, and health goals.
